We got a bullet train to nowhere that’s not a bullet train at all. But yes we have no water. Are you thirsty yet? — Mr TakeDown

KCBS’ Matt Bigler Reports

As the drought in California continues, 17 communities throughout the state could run out of water within 60 to 120 days, state officials said.

In some districts, the wells are running dry while other reservoirs are nearly empty. The state Health Department compiled a list after surveying the more than 3,000 water agencies in California last week.

Cali to Business: Get Out!

What Ails California
What Ails California

A article first published in the City Journal and written by Steven Malanga from about a month ago, describing California’s anti business policy. The article describes how California got where it is today and gives specific examples of companies who have left California and why they chose to do so. If you can’t find a job in California one of the reasons is the state’s unfriendly business driving business out.

Cali to Business: Get Out! (Firms flee CA’s senseless regulations, confiscatory taxes)
City Journal  – 11/17/2011 by Steven Malanga

Last year, a medical-technology firm called Numira Biosciences, founded in 2005 in Irvine, California, packed its bags and moved to Salt Lake City. The relocation, CEO Michael Beeuwsaert told the Orange County Register, was partly about the Utah destination’s pleasant quality of life and talented workforce. But there was a big “push factor,” too: California’s steepening taxes and ever-thickening snarl of government regulations. “The tipping point was when someone from the Orange County tax [assessor] wanted to see our facility to tax every piece of equipment I had,” Beeuwsaert said. “In Salt Lake City at my first networking event I met the mayor and the president of the Utah Senate, and they asked what they could do to help me. No [elected official] ever asked me that in California.” Continue reading Names Top Most Currupt Officals in 2010

Dysfunctional California

Remember this article? It was published in the Wall Street Journal Opinion section back in November 2010. When it first came out it caused some consternation in some circles. It’s almost a year later and nothing has changed. Jerry Brown wants to raise taxes, and still coddle all the unions that put him into power. The observations made by the author, Allysia Finely are still true. There is no hope for California as long as the gangsters that run the State are never voted out of office. These people will lie, cheat, steal and Jerry Mander voting districts to make California State legislative districts permanent Democratic or Republican. This means no hope of any  positive change. California Public Education

This came to me through a email thread. I don’t know who the author is except I’ve been told it was written by a LA school teacher who has begun to understand that public education has become a failure, just another wasteful and inefficient public program. Even the teachers are beginning to get it. Although LA has been like this for a long time.
Here is the email:

From a California school teacher – – –

As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-Second-Language Department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc. where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking a glass of milk and roll — but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten.
(OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) Continue reading
